Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)
The Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) is a maritime identification card issued to identify a person who has been the subject of a background check to ensure port security is consistent Australia-wide.
MSIC’s are required at the Port of Newcastle when a Maritime Security Zone has been established. You should speak to the relevant shipping agent or Stevedoring company to clarify if there are any Maritime Restricted Zones established at the terminal you are seeking access to.
There are a number of authorised issuing bodies to choose from.
