Port Access

All companies (including utilities) that are engaged to access or work on Port of Newcastle (PON) managed land must register in our Contractor Management System and all employees must hold a valid induction card for entry onto site. Work includes but is not limited to auditing, surveying, inspections, transportation of goods, and construction.

Port of Newcastle uses a third-party platform called Rapid Global for company registrations and inductions.

You will receive email notification when the registration is approved, and you can then proceed to purchase Induction Keys to issue to your workers that need to complete the PON online induction.

NOTE: Please read the questions carefully especially 1.2. Your registration will be rejected if you do not answer the questions correctly.

I have been engaged directly by Port of Newcastle to perform work on PON managed land.

Your PON Representative should provide the appropriate details to [email protected] to have your company added to the PON Rapid Global system to start the pre-qualification / registration process.

When the registration is approved you will receive email notification and you can then proceed to issue Induction Keys to workers that need to complete the PON online induction.

My company has been engaged to perform work on Port of Newcastle managed sites by a cargo owner, stevedore, shipping agent.

Once your registration has been approved you can proceed to issue Induction Keys to staff that will be attending site so that they can complete the appropriate induction/s.

When you have completed your induction you should proceed to the Carrington Gatehouse on Engine House Road, Carrington to have your card printed.

Visitor Access

If you are visiting Port of Newcastle but not performing work of any kind (delivering or collecting goods, completing an audit or inspection are all considered types of work at PON) you must be escorted at all times by an inducted person and complete the QR code check-in at the nearest gatehouse so that we can record your access.

This is part of our compliance with maritime legislation.

Group Access Approval

Port of Newcastle requests that all tenants or licensees requiring a group of persons to access a Port of Newcastle site for operational reasons gain approval for access prior to the group being permitted on site.

Tour Groups (e.g. tender meetings, school groups, customer tours etc.) on Port of Newcastle managed sites must be authorised and communicated to the relevant personnel and/or licensees on site.

This ensures the activity is managed according to Port of Newcastle’s safety requirements and legislative obligations.

The required form must be submitted at least three working days prior to the tour.

The tour organiser will also be required to provide a full list of tour group attendees to Port of Newcastle prior to the tour.
