Port of Newcastle strongly welcomes the NSW Government’s endorsement of our Clean Energy Precinct (CEP) through the first tranche of projects supported by the Investment Delivery Authority (IDA). The IDA will support and fast-track major investment projects in NSW, accelerating approvals and infrastructure delivery.
CEO, Craig Carmody, has commended the endorsement, saying it comes as the CEP moves into the planning approvals process and the next stages of site enablement.
“Port of Newcastle’s Clean Energy Precinct is already Australia’s most advanced clean energy production project. As we near completion of the FEED and EIS studies, this endorsement continues the Project’s momentum as we move into the next critical phase of approvals and sends a powerful signal to global investors,” Mr Carmody said.
“The success of the Housing Delivery Authority shows how strong coordination removes roadblocks and streamlines planning pathways. This support from the NSW Government through the Investment Delivery Authority gives private investors the confidence to invest at scale in our Clean Energy Precinct.
The Clean Energy Precinct is a once in a generation opportunity for our region and for NSW’s energy future.

“I look forward to continuing to work with the NSW Government through the next phase of the Project,” Mr Carmody said.
