Traka Electronic Key System

Port of Newcastle has introduced a new Electronic Key Management system for accessing K2 and K3.

From Monday 27 July 2026, all non-electrical keys will be transferred to our new Traka Key Cabinet which is located inside the K2 amenities building and this is how all contractors will obtain keys moving forward.

How to access a key:

1. Badge your mobile / induction card against the reader next to the cabinet.
2. When the door unlocks, the panel on the right will light up all keys you have access to in green. 
3. Select the key you require on the panel, you will hear a ‘click’ then remove the key FOB from the cabinet.
4. If you require an additional key, repeat step 3.

How to return a key:

1. Badge your mobile / induction card against the reader next to the panel.
2. When the door unlocks, replace the key by pushing the FOB into the correct hole.
3. Close the door.
